UNDERSTANDING STRESS AND ANXIETY
Stress and anxiety are part of being human—but when they become overwhelming, constant, or difficult to control, they can affect every area of life.
What Is Stress?
Stress is the body’s natural reaction to pressure, challenge, or change.
When we feel under threat—physically or emotionally—our nervous system activates the fight-or-flight response. This can create symptoms such as:
-
racing thoughts
-
tension or tightness in the body
-
irritability
-
difficulty concentrating
-
disrupted sleep
Short-term stress is normal.
But when stress becomes ongoing or builds up over time, it can leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from yourself.
What Is Anxiety?
Anxiety is closely linked to stress, but it’s different.
While stress is triggered by something happening now, anxiety often comes from thoughts, fears, or worries about the future even when nothing dangerous is actually happening.
Anxiety can show up as:
-
constant worry or overthinking
-
a sense of dread or unease
-
physical symptoms such as a tight chest, stomach knots, or a racing heart
-
difficulty relaxing
-
feeling “on edge” for no clear reason
Anxiety is essentially the mind trying to protect you—but reacting too strongly or too often.
Why Hypnotherapy Helps
Both stress and anxiety live in the subconscious mind.
Hypnotherapy helps calm the nervous system, quiet internal chatter, and gently reprogram unhelpful patterns. It can support you to feel more grounded, more in control, and more able to respond rather than react.
